Editing

Need to fine-tune a writing project? Stuck on a manuscript or need another set of eyes to get your work ready for publication? I can help.

Through Manuscript Tune-Up, I offer three levels of support to writers with a completed (or close to completed) manuscript. Spaces are limited. If you're looking for something more customized, drop me a note and let's chat.

If you’re looking for help on a smaller fiction, memoir, or nonfiction project, check out Quick Hits, my editing service for small projects.

A respected editor and an award-winning writer, I earned my MFA in Creative Writing at UBC and my PhD in Adult Education at the University of Toronto. I have guest edited some of Canada's most prestigious literary journals and have extensive experience providing personalized, workable feedback on fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and professional writing projects. Let me help you get in the groove, find your voice, and make your writing shine.

TEACHING

In my unique experiences as an international educator, I've travelled to over 70 countries, meeting with students, parents and teachers from around the globe. A skilled and sensitive intercultural communicator, I've facilitated compelling writing workshops for youth on a diverse range of topics, including identity, migration, home, and belonging. As a PhD student in Adult Education at the University of Toronto, my research focused on globally-mobile young people and explores ideas of home, belonging, and identity in a globalized world, using arts-based methods and innovative storytelling and life writing exercises to engage youth in writing, reflection, and conversation. I have particular expertise working with "third-culture" kids, LGBTQ youth, and globally-mobile or migrating youth.

In 2017 I had the honour to serve as Writer-in-Residence at Lester B. Pearson United World College, an international school enrolling students from 80 countries. I'm available to travel to your school, college, or university to facilitate a range of engaging, interactive, and thematically-focused writing workshops.

CoACHING

For over fifteen years I’ve worked as a communications professional in a range of capacities—academic writing, project development, ghostwriting, communications planning, and public relations. I coach and mentor emerging writers, professionals, and teams embarking on short- and long-term communication projects. Currently I focus my practise on supporting emerging and professional writers at any stage of a writing project—from conception to realization, or the messy space in between. One to one coaching for writers might include support structuring or planning a book, developing and enhancing an ongoing writing practise, troubleshooting a complicated project, or getting feedback and editing on a shorter piece of writing. Coaching rates are available by the hour, with discounted rates for pre-paid packages of six, ten, and twenty hours.

Be in touch if your project needs a helping hand.
