Delve into the secrets of your heart

As we transition into the energetic days of late spring, give your heart the time and space to explore. Join us at The Hideout for Write From the Heart, a nourishing three-hour writing workshop. This workshop is focused on the gentle practise of writing inquiry—using guided writing practise to explore the joys, longings and wounds of our hearts. In supported practise, we’ll respond to prompts to write together through several major life themes: love, loss, and letting go. No prior writing experience necessary, and no need to share your writing with the group. Give yourself the gift of time at The Hideout, our bucolic countryside retreat.

The Hideout is an idyllic place to set your worries aside and sink more deeply into your craft. Surrounded by rich woodland forest, the protected Lord's Pond watershed, and the soothing sound of birdsong, the light-filled Hideout studio provides the ideal setting for a full day of writing. 

Arrive early for coffee, tea, and time outside. You'll have full access to sun-bathed common areas, with wide tables and cozy corners to hunker down in. Or write outside on the verandah in one of our Muskoka chairs overlooking the peaceful countryside. 

If you're new to writing, this will be a supportive and encouraging place to start. The workshop is open to writers of all genres, but may particularly appeal to writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and memoir/life writing. Prepare to respond to writing prompts and bring a sense of curiosity and loving kindness to the day. The focus of this workshop will be process—writing as a means of going deeper into our experience—rather than on crafting a finished piece.

Limited to 10 participants. The Hideout is a fully accessible space, with ramp access, extra-wide doors and a main floor washroom.
