THE ORIENT
HOTEL

Established in 1900, the historic Orient Hotel—located in the charming seaside fishing village of Victoria-By-the-Sea on the Island's south shore—now operates as a bed and breakfast. The hotel is located in the heart of the village, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and the Victoria School House where our writing workshops take place.

Retreat guests will stay in comfortably appointed queen rooms, or may choose a spacious one or two bedroom suite, all with private ensuite bathrooms and most with spectacular water views. Amenities include colour cable TV, free wireless internet and overhead ceiling fans. A complimentary hot breakfast is served each morning in the dining room.

The following room options are available at The Orient. Please note that accommodations must be booked directly through the hotel. Book early to secure your preferred room. Several rooms offer the option of sharing with a friend or partner.

Room #1 - Seawind - 2 twin beds - $122 per night **BOOKED**

Very comfortable room with two twin beds (can be made into a king bed) and large full ensuite bath. Nicely decorated in a nautical theme. Ideal for sharing.

Room #2 - Garden - Queen - $112 per night **BOOKED**

Snuggle under the vintage quilt in this quiet room with a queen size bed and ensuite bath. Enjoy the wonderful view of the Westermoreland River and flower garden.

Room #3 - Seashell - Queen - $107 per night **BOOKED**

This is the coziest room in the hotel. Summer breezes, village view and seashell white decor make this a romantic retreat. 

Room #4 - Island Bird - Queen - $112 per night **BOOKED**

Catch the sunrise. Decorated with pictures of the birds you may also find out your window. Wonderful views of the patchwork countryside and Westmoreland River. Queen bed and ensuite bath.

Room #5 - Driftwood Suite - King - $132 per night **BOOKED**

One bedroom suite/king bed/ensuite bath. This spacious one bedroom suite features a king bed, sitting room with TV and large full ensuite bath. Enjoy the sunrise and water view from your pillow.

Room #6 - Captain's Quarters - King (can be converted to two twins) - $132 per night **BOOKED**

One bedroom suite/king bed/ensuite bath. This peaceful spacious suite has a vintage style decor. Comfortable sitting room with TV and quaint village view. Large ensuite bathroom. Ideal for honeymoons or a romantic getaway. Also perfect for sharing with a friend.

Room #7 - Victoria Suite - 2 bedroom suite with 1 Queen and 2 Twins - $164 per night

Two bedroom suite/queen & two twin beds/ensuite bath. Extremely spacious two bedroom suite. Features include comfortable sitting room with TV and views of the garden and Westmoreland River. Queen bed and two twin beds. Large ensuite bath. Perfect for two friends, or for those travelling with family.

The
Hideout

Located a ten-minute drive from Victoria, in the scenic community of North Tyron, The Hideout is perfect for those retreat participants seeking a deeper retreat. Set along the protected Lord’s Pond/Tryon River watershed, The Hideout’s two accommodation options are private, self-contained units with kitchen facilities and private outdoor space.

The signature Hideout Cottage is a one-bedroom cottage outfitted with Island retro chic. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, complimentary organic coffee, your own private expansive patio with views of the countryside, and a curated selection of books and local artwork. The Cottage features low, wide ramps and barrier-free entry and is suitable for those with mobility issues. Rate: $145/night + HST

The Tryon Suite is a nod to the neighbouring Tryon River. It's a cozy, sunny ground floor suite with private entrance and access to backyard seating. Clean, modern, and flooded with light, it's the ideal oasis to return to each night after you return from exploring the Island. Accessed by a small flight of stairs. Rate $120/night + HST
