Yoga by the Sea:
A Yoga Retreat on PEI

August 25-30, 2019

Victoria-by-the-Sea, PEI

Make space for your practise.

Embrace the final days of summer with this idyllic five-day yoga retreat on PEI’s gorgeous South Shore. Designed for practitioners of all experience, Yoga by the Sea combines daily yoga and meditation practices, dedicated solo or social time, special events designed to showcase the Island’s spectacular arts and culinary scenes, and plenty of time to relax and unwind.

Join yoga teacher Joshua Lewis and author Trevor Corkum and ensure that you have some time for YOU this summer - supported by grounding practices, gentle guidance and an abundance of beautiful scenery to inspire and delight all your senses.

Each morning, we’ll gather for daily movement classes in the gorgeously refurbished Victoria School House. After a light lunch, afternoons will allow for guided reflective writing sessions, solo exploration time and optional cultural activities, such as kayaking, food tastings, and cycling—or let yourself take advantage of the week to explore the Island on your own. Evenings feature a combination of group dinners and free time for further exploration. We’ll cap it off with a Thursday night gathering at The Hideout for an east coast feast and a special musical guest performance.

Yoga practice and mindfulness activities will be guided by Joshua Lewis in his signature all-levels accessible and inclusive style. Long-time practitioners, as well as those with little or no experience, will find Joshua’s embodied and inspired teaching methodology to be approachable and profoundly impactful – calming and soothing for the body, mind and the heart.

Optional reflective writing workshops will be led by Trevor Corkum, an award-winning author and creative writing instructor. Whether you are curious about writing, love to journal, have been working on a secret memoir, or have a specific fiction, nonfiction, or other project in mind, this retreat will give you compassionate space to commit time, energy and focus to your practice. Guided activities will include responding to prompts and interactive storytelling activities. No prior writing experience is necessary, and there will be no expectation that you share your work if you prefer to simply indulge in some quiet writing time.

An essential element supporting these personal adventures is the shared experience of connecting with your deepest self while in the community of others doing the same. Everything about the retreat experience is intentionally designed to drop you into a deep reflective state, while also allowing maximum flexibility for you to explore and curate your Island experience as you wish.

The Victoria School House was completely refurbished in 2018 and is fully wheelchair accessible. Several of our accommodation options are also accessible, as noted on the accommodations page.

“Our intention for this retreat is to provide you with the space and time to explore your creative self, in a supportive community of fellow writers. Optional cultural activities and yoga and mindfulness workshops are designed to drop you into a state of relaxation and mindful attention. With ample opportunities to slow down, rest, relax and create—our hope is that you can fully embody the beauty and energy of our transition into summer.”
